About me
Hi, I’m Stacey!
Fitness and foodie fiend striving to strike
that balance between enjoying all there is in life – cookies, ice cream,
burgers, cocktails and jama days - and keeping fit and healthy. Whilst much
focus has been on health concerns linked to being overweight, there has been
less attention on the issues associated with low bodyweight. People often see
being skinny as a blessing but what they don’t understand are the potential risks
for developing osteoporosis, weakened immune systems, decreased nutrient
absorption and, of growing importance for me at this point in my life,
fertility problems.
I have never intentionally tried to lose
weight or stay ‘skinny’ but I will admit to having been very conscious of body
image for as long as I can remember. So it makes me happy to see the rising
‘strong not skinny’ movement, the #girlgains community and the understanding
that being strong doesn’t mean you have to have bulging biceps or thunderous
thighs.
In February this year I was made redundant from my job and was able to take a little time to step back and reassess where I want my career to go. I set about qualifying as a personal trainer to tie my passion for fitness and enthusiasm for helping others feel good about themselves together. This blog comes as a means of
documenting life as I try to build a career in a new industry and you’re likely to find ramblings, hopefully some tales of success, inevitably some of frustration and failure plus healthy and delicious recipes with a few naughty treats thrown in for good measure!
